Acts of the ApostlesThis book, written by Luke (author of the Gospel of Luke) traces the development of the first century church. It chronicles the mission statement that Jesus gives (Acts 1:8), to the formation in Jerusalem on Pentecost and its subsequent spread to Judea, Samaria (Acts 8) and ultimately the world (Acts 13-28). Major characters (Peter, Phillip and Apostle Paul) are integral to the growth. Easily overlooked are the everyday people that spread the gospel; whose changed lives transform communities.
