Christian Seder-- 2015
This Messianic Passover meal is a special opportunity to learn and appreciate the love and greatness of our God. Key aspects put into place and observed for over 1,000 years before Jesus, the Messiah, cam and brought fulfillment and extra meaning to the celebration. Today, Christians all over the world, partake of a couple key aspects every time they partake of the Lord's Supper-- Afikomen & the cup of Redemption.
Afikomen had been used by the Jews as a critical part of their Passover celebration. Unleavened break that was striped and was pierced. Jesus, the Bread of Life, was without leaven (yeast which represents sin), was striped by the lashes (as prophesied) and pierced by the soldier's spear (as prophesied).
God had established four cups: Cup of Sanctification (setting apart), Cup of Plagues (freeing from bondage), Cup of Redemption and Cup of Praise (for we have become God's people). When Jesus established the Lord's Supper, it was the cup of redemption of which he stated, "this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." (Matthew 26:28)
This year's Christian seder, put on by our wonderful women, went well. We enjoyed having many guests (42%+) that came and shared in this special evening. A great spirit of teamwork was demonstrated at the conclusion, when within 20 minutes, everything was down and the room set back up as usual!
