BIBLE BOWL COMING TO TV! Special presentation on National Bible Bowl on Monday Dec. 28 @ 7pm on TLC. http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/tlc-presents/bible-bowl/
UPDATE Dec. 1, 2015: Our youth will be attending the second Michigan Round Robin on December 6th. They are scheduled to play 7 games, take individual tests, participate in a quoting bee and more. Their text for the month is the Gospel of Luke chapters 5-8. The Round Robin is collecting USED SHOES (in any condition) for a mission that takes the materials and reuses. The youth will be able to either take their lunch, or purchase brunch at Great Lakes Christian College. Youth are also encouraged to dress up as a "rock star" for the day.
This nationwide program allows young people to focus on a portion of the Bible for an entire school year. They can compete in a quiz game that features speed and knowledge at a national competition. The competitions help to motivate, firmly fix the text in their minds and build friendships with other Christian youth. The text that is featured is the Gospel of Luke. The national competition will be held in Summer of 2016.
The Michigan statewide program offers a monthly competition (November - May) over sections of the national text. These monthly competitions help teams to develop study habits, focus on a smaller section at a time, and greater opportunity to build deep friendships with other Christian youth. The competitions are usually held at Great Lakes Christian College in Lansing.
First Tournament: Nov. 7 Luke 1-4 (not quizzed over Luke 3:23-38)
The Pine Run program offers weekly practices for young people to help assure that they are learning the material and how it applies to their lives. Weekly practices allows us to focus on an even smaller portion for the youth to learn. The youth will learn: how to study (helpful for school!), everyone has different strengths, how those various strengths make a stronger team, how to work together as a team, importance of encouraging one another, success is reflected in amount learned, applied and relationships developed. The team(s) will then participate in the Michigan statewide program for this coming year. Practices begin on September 8th at 7:00 pm and will be held on every Tuesday (unless notified of change).
Youth will have opportunity to gain national recognition by memorizing 15 verses a month (total of 90) by May 1st. Those that do will receive a certificate (from National Bible Bowl), recognized in Nationals program Book and have their names listed on the National Bible Bowl website archives section for this achievement!
PROGRAM CHANGE!! Practice is moving to Wednesdays at 7:00 pm effective October 27th!
